Field note: On the largest single-cylinder engine in this Kymco range, the piston pin circlips must be
installed with the opening gap oriented 90° to piston travel, never fore-or-aft. A backward clip
compresses under load until it ejects into the crankcase, and because the flywheel/stator assembly sits
in the same crankcase, any debris from an ejected clip can also contaminate the charging system windings.
Use only new clips and confirm full seating by feel before closing the case.

Field note: As Kymco's flagship maxi-scooter, the Xciting 500's large touring fairings have significant
surface area exposed to UV, and mounting tabs become brittle around the same three-year mark seen across
the brand's lineup. Never use an impact driver on body screws, and apply silicone grease to rubber
grommets before removal so large panels flex free without snapping a tab.
