SYM Mio 50 - Master Maintenance & Torque Guide

The SYM Mio 50 uses a simple 8-pin AC-fired CDI ignition module shared in design philosophy with the Fiddle II 50. As with most CDI units on small-bore scooters, there is no meaningful fastener torque spec for the module itself — the real reliability factor is clean, corrosion-free connector pins and proper vibration isolation.

Cross-CompatibilitySYM Fiddle II 50
Field note: On AC-fired CDI systems like this one, a weak or intermittent spark is far more often caused by a degraded stator coil output than the CDI module itself, but the CDI gets replaced first in most shops simply because it's easier to swap. Test AC output from the stator before condemning the CDI, and when mounting, avoid over-tightening bracket screws — this module relies on its rubber grommets to survive vibration, not a rigid mount.

13115-A1A-0002Piston Pin Clip (Circlip)Directional installation — see expert note below
Field note: On this small-bore 50cc single, the piston pin circlips must be installed with the opening gap oriented 90° to piston travel, never fore-or-aft. A backward clip compresses under inertial load until it walks out of its groove and ejects into the crankcase, and the freed pin gouges the cylinder wall on the following stroke, destroying the bore on an engine with very little material margin to absorb damage. Use only new clips and confirm full seating by feel.
