Expert Maintenance Note: Always utilize JASO MB specified 10W-30 engine oil on the Honda PCX 150 eSP engine. Field note: The 1.2 Nm airbox screw spec is easy to exceed with a power driver, cracking the plastic mounting ears and leaving the lid unsealed — unfiltered air bypass here is a leading cause of premature ring wear that gets misdiagnosed as normal high-mileage compression loss.

Field note: This 10mm plug threads into an aluminum head with a relatively short thread engagement. Exceeding 16 Nm risks stripping the head threads, which on the eSP engine requires a helicoil repair or head replacement — a far costlier mistake than the plug itself. Always verify the 0.8-0.9mm gap before install; the eSP ignition system has a narrower spark energy margin than older Honda platforms.

Field note: Because the water pump is integrated with the ACG starter housing, a failed pump seal doesn't just cause a coolant leak — contaminated coolant can migrate into the starter/generator windings and cause an electrical charging fault. Torque the mounting bolts evenly to 12 Nm in stages to avoid distorting the housing gasket surface, and always pressure test the cooling system after any reassembly.

Field note: Under-torquing the caliper bolts below 30 Nm allows the caliper to shift slightly under braking, producing uneven pad wear and a soft, spongy lever feel that is often mistaken for air in the brake line. Field note: On the eSP short block, the piston pin circlips must be installed with the gap oriented
90° to the direction of piston travel, never fore-or-aft. A backward clip compresses under inertial
load on every stroke until it walks out of its groove and ejects into the crankcase, and the freed pin
gouges the cylinder wall on the next stroke, destroying the bore and often contaminating the integrated
ACG starter/water pump housing with debris. Use only new clips and confirm full seating by feel.
