Field note: Suzuki specifies 1.2L for oil drains without filter removal and 1.3L when renewing the 16510-05240 spin-on element. Overfilling causes oil foam agitation in the crankcase, leading to oil mist carryover into the airbox via the crankcase breather. Always check final oil level on center stand on a level surface after running engine 3 minutes.

Field note: This is a viscous paper element, not an oiled foam filter — applying air filter oil clogs the viscous coating and restricts airflow rather than improving filtration. The airbox housing is hand-tight only; using a tool to "snug it up further" cracks the plastic mounting tabs almost every time.

Field note: At 95 Nm, this is a surprisingly high torque spec for a 200cc scooter, and technicians unfamiliar with Suzuki's Burgman line often under-torque it based on displacement alone. Because this belt has no cross-compatible substitute besides the European-market Burgman 125, sourcing delays make a failed DIY install costly in downtime — always use a calibrated wrench rated for this torque and confirm the crankshaft is properly locked before applying force.

Field note: On the Burgman 200's aluminum head, 11 Nm is the hard ceiling for spark plug torque, and exceeding it even slightly on a warm engine is a common cause of stripped head threads.

Field note: On the UH200's short block, the piston pin circlips must be installed with the opening gap oriented 90° to the direction of piston travel, never fore-or-aft. A backward clip compresses under inertial load on every stroke until it walks out of its groove and ejects into the crankcase, and the freed pin gouges the cylinder wall on the following stroke, destroying the bore. Use only new clips and confirm full seating by feel before closing the case.

Field note: Suzuki's painted plastic body panels become progressively brittle at the mounting tabs after roughly three years of continuous UV exposure. Never use an impact driver on body screws — the torque spike snaps a brittle tab instantly — and apply silicone grease (never petroleum-based) to rubber grommets before removal so panels flex free without cracking.
