Honda ADV 150 - Master Maintenance & Torque Guide

The Honda ADV 150 pairs Honda's proven eSP single-cylinder engine with an adventure-styled chassis featuring taller suspension travel and a hydraulic front disc brake. Because the ADV rides higher and carries more aggressive weight transfer under braking than a typical step-through scooter, its brake rotor and rear shock absorber see higher cyclic loads than comparable Honda commuter models. Precise torque control on these two systems is what keeps the ADV's handling predictable as it ages. For CVT service details, consult the complete Honda PCX 150 & ADV 150 CVT variator nut torque & spline failure analysis guide, or refer to the Honda PCX 150 Master Guide.

Engine Oil Drain & Refill Capacity 0.8L (without filter / drain) / 0.9L (total disassembly)
Final Drive / Gearbox Oil & Capacity SAE 10W-30 / 80W-90 | 120ml capacity
OEM Oil Filter Part Number Strainer Screen OEM # 15421-107-000 (Clean screen with solvent at oil drain)
OEM Air Filter Element Part Number OEM # 17210-K97-J00 (Viscous paper element)
Spark Plug Model & Electrode Gap NGK MR8K-9 | Electrode Gap: 0.8-0.9mm | Torque: 16 Nm
Expert Maintenance Note: Always utilize JASO MB specified 10W-30 engine oil on the Honda ADV 150 eSP platform to reduce internal friction. The lower oil strainer screen (OEM # 15421-107-000) must be cleaned at each oil drain. Braking System

ComponentFront Brake Rotor (Disc)
OEM Part Number45351-K0W-N01
Dimensions240mm diameter, 3.5mm minimum thickness
Torque SpecRotor bolts: 42 Nm (31 lbf·ft)
Cross-CompatibilityHonda PCX 150 (ABS models)
Field note: Torquing rotor bolts beyond 42 Nm, or tightening them out of sequence, warps the rotor carrier and produces a pulsing brake lever under hard stops that is often misdiagnosed as caliper failure. Always torque in a star (criss-cross) pattern and measure rotor thickness with a micrometer — at or below the 3.5mm minimum, the rotor must be replaced outright; resurfacing is not an approved service on this part.

Suspension System

ComponentRear Shock Absorber
OEM Part Number52400-K0W-N01
DimensionsEye-to-eye length: 395 mm
Torque SpecUpper/Lower mounting bolts: 39 Nm
Fluid/NotesNitrogen/oil sealed, non-serviceable
Cross-CompatibilityUnique to ADV 150
Field note: Over-tightening the shock mounting bolts beyond 39 Nm crushes the rubber isolation bushings, transmitting harshness and vibration directly into the subframe and accelerating bushing failure. Because this shock is a sealed nitrogen/oil unit, never attempt to disassemble or re-gas it — a soft or leaking shock must be replaced as a complete assembly, not serviced internally.

13111-K0W-N011Piston PinLightly oil before install; hand-pressure fit only
13115-K0W-N012Piston Pin Clip (Circlip)Directional installation — see expert note below
Field note: On the eSP+ short block, the piston pin circlips must be installed with the gap oriented 90° to the direction of piston travel — never fore-or-aft. A clip installed backward compresses under inertial load on every stroke of the ADV150's higher-RPM operating range until it walks out of its groove and ejects into the crankcase, and the freed pin gouges the cylinder wall on the next stroke, destroying the bore. Use only new clips, never a reused one, and verify full seating by feel before closing the case.

Field note: The ADV150's textured adventure-style panels use the same UV-sensitive plastic mounting tabs found on standard PCX bodywork underneath the rugged finish. Never use an impact driver on body screws — a brittle tab snaps instantly under a torque spike — and apply silicone grease (never petroleum-based) to rubber grommets before removal so the panel flexes free without cracking.
