Honda Silver Wing 600 - Master Maintenance & Torque Guide

The Honda Silver Wing 600 (FSC600) is powered by a liquid-cooled 582cc parallel-twin engine. For other Honda touring and mid-range scooter specs, consult the Honda Forza 300 Master Guide or Honda Helix 250 Master Guide.

Engine Fluids, Gear Oil & Filter Specifications

Specification Parameter OEM Factory Technical Value
Engine Oil Viscosity & Standard SAE 10W-40 | API SG/SL | JASO MB Standard
Engine Oil Drain & Refill Capacity 2.0L (without filter / drain) / 2.2L (total capacity with filter)
Final Drive / Gearbox Oil & Capacity SAE 10W-40 / 80W-90 | 280ml (drain) / 300ml (total)
OEM Oil Filter Part Number Spin-on Cartridge Filter OEM # 15410-MCJ-000 (Torque: 26 Nm)
OEM Air Filter Element Part Number OEM # 17210-MCT-000 (Viscous paper filter)
Spark Plug Model & Electrode Gap NGK CR8EH-9 | Electrode Gap: 0.8-0.9mm | Torque: 16 Nm
Expert Maintenance Note: The 582cc parallel-twin Silver Wing engine requires SAE 10W-40 JASO MB oil. Always install a genuine Honda spin-on filter (OEM # 15410-MCJ-000), pre-lube the rubber gasket with oil, and torque to 26 Nm. The final drive reduction transmission requires 280ml of gear oil on drain (300ml total).

13010-MFJ-D012Piston (Std.)Matched-weight pair required for smooth twin-cylinder balance
13111-MFJ-D012Piston PinLightly oil before install; hand-pressure fit only
13115-MFJ-D014Piston Pin Clip (Circlip)Two per piston; directional installation — see expert note below
Field note: With four circlips instead of two on this parallel-twin engine, the margin for a mistake doubles — every single clip must have its opening gap oriented 90° to the direction of piston travel, never fore-or-aft, on both cylinders. A single backward clip on either piston compresses under load until it ejects into the crankcase, and the freed pin gouges that cylinder wall on the next stroke. Also verify piston weights are matched within the manufacturer's tolerance across both cylinders — an unmatched pair on a twin causes a noticeable vibration that worsens with RPM.

Field note: The Silver Wing's large touring fairings have substantially more surface area exposed to UV than smaller scooter bodywork, and given this platform's age, assume the mounting tabs behind the painted surface are already past the typical brittleness threshold. Never use an impact driver on body screws — a snapped tab on a discontinued fairing panel this large is a costly and difficult sourcing problem — and apply silicone grease to rubber grommets before removal.
