Engine Fluids, Gear Oil & Filter Specifications
| Engine Oil Viscosity & JASO/API Standard | SAE 5W-40 / 10W-40 Synthetic (API SL/SJ) |
|---|---|
| Engine Oil Drain & Refill Capacity | 1.0 L (With Filter) |
| Final Drive / Gearbox Oil Viscosity & Volume | SAE 80W-90 GL-4 (150 ml) |
| OEM Oil Filter Part Number | 82635R |
| OEM Air Filter Element Part Number | 843194 |
| Spark Plug Model & Electrode Gap | NGK CR8EB (Electrode gap: 0.7 - 0.8 mm) |
Field note: The 150cc 3-Valve engine in the Fly 150 requires 1.0 L of synthetic 5W-40 or 10W-40 engine oil during filter changes. The final reduction gearbox takes exactly 150 ml of SAE 80W-90 GL-4 gear oil. For cross-reference specs on identical powertrain components, consult the complete Vespa LX 150 oil and transmission spec guide and the Piaggio Liberty 150 master guide.
Transmission System
| Component | Transmission Drive Belt |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | 841213 |
| Dimensions | 826 x 22.5 mm |
| Torque Spec | Driven pulley nut: 55-60 Nm |
| Cross-Compatibility | Vespa 946, Vespa Sprint 150 |
Field note: Under-torquing the driven pulley nut below 55 Nm is the most common cause of a "new belt still slipping" complaint on this platform — the nut backs off just enough to reduce clamping force without fully loosening, so the fault presents as a bad belt rather than an under-torqued fastener. Always re-torque and re-check after the first 200 miles of use following belt replacement.
Ignition System
| Component | Spark Plug |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | NGK PMR8B |
| Dimensions | 10mm thread, 19mm reach |
| Torque Spec | 12-14 Nm |
| Electrode Gap | 0.7 - 0.8 mm |
| Cross-Compatibility | Vespa LX 150 (3V) |
Field note: This PMR8B plug has a shorter reach designed for the 3-valve head's specific combustion chamber shape — substituting a standard-reach plug that "fits" the thread can protrude too far into the chamber and contact the piston at TDC, causing catastrophic damage. Always confirm the exact reach dimension when sourcing a substitute plug, not just the thread size.
Engine Internals: Cylinder Head & Crankshaft
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 841102 | 1 | Head Comp., Cylinder | 3-valve design shared with Vespa 150cc family; resurface flatness < 0.05mm |
| 841115 | 1 | Valve, Exhaust | Check margin thickness > 0.5mm before reuse |
| 841122 | 2 | Valve, Inlet | Two intake valves per 3-valve design — do not swap with exhaust valve |
| 841140 | 1 | Gasket, Head Cyl. | Single-use metal composite; never reuse |
| 841165 | 1 | Camshaft Comp. | Chain-driven; inspect all three lobes for wear |
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 841210 | 1 | Crankshaft Comp. | Check runout < 0.03mm on V-blocks |
| 841225 | 1 | Connecting Rod | Big-end side clearance spec: 0.1-0.4mm |
| 841250 | 1 | Piston (Std.) | Domed piston for 3-valve combustion chamber |
| 841265 | 1 | Piston Pin | Lightly oil before install; hand-pressure fit only |
| 841270 | 2 | Piston Pin Clip (Circlip) | Directional installation — see expert note below |
Field note: On this 3-valve engine shared across the Piaggio/Vespa 150cc family, the piston pin circlips
must be installed with the opening gap oriented 90° to piston travel, never fore-or-aft. A backward
clip compresses under load until it ejects into the crankcase, and the freed pin gouges the cylinder wall
on the next stroke. With two intake valves rather than one, also take extra care not to drop a valve into
the bore during head reassembly.

Field note: Piaggio's painted plastic panels become progressively brittle at the mounting tabs after
roughly three years of UV exposure, even when the paint still looks presentable. Never use an impact
driver on body screws, and apply silicone grease (never petroleum-based) to rubber grommets before
removal so panels flex free without cracking.
