Engine Fluids, Gear Oil & Filter Specifications
| Engine Oil Viscosity & JASO/API Standard | SAE 5W-40 Full Synthetic (API SL/SJ) |
|---|---|
| Engine Oil Drain & Refill Capacity | 0.85 L (With Filter) |
| Final Drive / Gearbox Oil Viscosity & Volume | SAE 80W-90 GL-4 (120 ml) |
| OEM Oil Filter Part Number | 82635R |
| OEM Air Filter Element Part Number | 875833 |
| Spark Plug Model & Electrode Gap | NGK ER9EH-6N (Electrode gap: 0.6 - 0.7 mm) |
Field note: The 50cc 4-stroke engine in the Typhoon 50 requires 0.85 L of synthetic 5W-40 oil with an oil filter replacement. The reduction gearbox requires exactly 120 ml of SAE 80W-90 GL-4 lubricant. CVT Transmission System
| Component | CVT Roller Weights |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | CM110201 |
| Dimensions | 19 x 15 mm, 6.4g each |
| Torque Spec | Variator nut: 40 Nm |
| Cross-Compatibility | Vespa LX 50 4T |
Field note: A weight variance of even half a gram across the six rollers in this small CVT is enough to cause a noticeable vibration and uneven acceleration feel, since there is very little rotating mass to average out the imbalance. Always weigh each roller on a precision scale before installation, and torque the variator nut to exactly 40 Nm — over-torquing on this small crank taper is a frequent cause of premature wear during routine roller service.
Engine Internals: Cylinder Head & Crankshaft
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| CM110110 | 1 | Head Comp., Cylinder | 2-valve legacy design; resurface flatness < 0.05mm |
| CM110122 | 1 | Valve, Exhaust | Check margin thickness > 0.5mm before reuse |
| CM110130 | 1 | Valve, Inlet | Do not swap positions with exhaust valve |
| CM110145 | 1 | Gasket, Head Cyl. | Single-use metal composite; never reuse |
| CM110165 | 1 | Camshaft Comp. | Chain-driven; inspect lobe wear before reinstall |
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| CM110210 | 1 | Crankshaft Comp. | Check runout < 0.03mm on V-blocks |
| CM110225 | 1 | Connecting Rod | Big-end side clearance spec: 0.1-0.4mm |
| CM110250 | 1 | Piston (Std.) | Domed piston, 2-ring set |
| CM110265 | 1 | Piston Pin | Lightly oil before install; hand-pressure fit only |
| CM110270 | 2 | Piston Pin Clip (Circlip) | Directional installation — see expert note below |
Field note: On this compact 50cc 4-stroke engine, the piston pin circlips must be installed with the
opening gap oriented 90° to piston travel, never fore-or-aft. A backward clip compresses under load
until it ejects into the crankcase, and the freed pin gouges the cylinder wall on the next stroke,
destroying the bore on an engine with very little material margin to absorb damage. Use only new clips
and confirm full seating by feel before closing the case.

Field note: Given this platform's age, assume the plastic mounting tabs behind the painted surface are
already past the typical three-year UV brittleness threshold on most surviving units. Never use an
impact driver on body screws, and apply silicone grease to rubber grommets before removal —
color-matched replacement panels for older production years are frequently discontinued.
