Field note: The twin-cylinder TMAX 530 engine requires a motorcycle-style spin-on oil filter (OEM # 5GH-13440-50) and a substantial 2.9 L oil fill with filter change. Field note: At 160 Nm, this fastener requires a heavy-duty torque wrench and a properly rated crankshaft locking tool — using undersized scooter tools to reach this torque either fails to achieve it (leaving the nut dangerously under-clamped on a high-performance crank) or damages the tool itself mid-job. Under-torquing this specific nut has caused documented cases of catastrophic primary sheave failure at speed; this is one torque spec in the entire catalog where there is zero margin for improvisation.

Field note: With four circlips instead of two on this high-performance parallel-twin engine, and a 160 Nm
primary sheave nut spec elsewhere on this platform underscoring how unforgiving this machine is of
shortcuts, every clip must have its opening gap oriented 90° to piston travel, never fore-or-aft, on
both cylinders. A single backward clip on either piston compresses under load until it ejects into the
crankcase, and the freed pin gouges that cylinder wall on the next stroke. Also verify piston weights are
matched within tolerance across both cylinders — the TMAX's higher operating RPM makes an unmatched
pair's vibration far more noticeable than on a touring twin.

Field note: The TMAX's sport-touring fairings have substantial surface area exposed to UV, and the
mounting tabs behind that painted surface become brittle after roughly three years of continuous
exposure. Never use an impact driver on body screws — a snapped tab on this flagship model's fairing
is a costly sourcing problem — and apply silicone grease to rubber grommets before removal.
