Engine Fluids, Gear Oil & Filter Specifications
| Engine Oil Viscosity & JASO/API Standard | SAE 10W-40 | API SG/SL/SM | JASO MB |
|---|---|
| Engine Oil Drain & Refill Capacity | 1.4 L (Without Filter Change) / 1.5 L (With Paper Filter Change) |
| Final Drive / Gearbox Oil Viscosity & Capacity | SAE 10W-40 or SAE 80W-90 | 200 ml (Drain) / 210 ml (Total) |
| OEM Oil Filter Part Number | Paper Filter OEM # 1S4-E3440-00 |
| OEM Air Filter Element Part Number | OEM # B74-E4451-00 |
| Spark Plug Model & Electrode Gap | NGK LMAR8A-9 (0.8 – 0.9 mm gap) |
Field note: The XMAX 300 uses a high-efficiency paper cartridge filter (OEM # 1S4-E3440-00) and long-reach LMAR8A-9 spark plug. Torque filter cover bolts to exactly 10 Nm to prevent housing distortion. Check the Yamaha Majesty 400 guide and Yamaha TMAX 530 guide for maxi-scooter drivetrain comparison. Braking System
| Component | Front Brake Pads |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | B74-F5805-00 |
| Dimensions | Sintered compound |
| Torque Spec | Caliper pins: 18 Nm |
| Fluid Spec | DOT 4 |
| Cross-Compatibility | Yamaha CZD300 |
Field note: Sintered pads require a proper bedding-in period of gradual, progressively harder stops over the first 100 miles — skipping this step (common when a rider is eager to test new brakes immediately) glazes the pad surface and produces reduced stopping power that mimics a fault in the pads themselves. Keep caliper pin torque at 18 Nm; over-tightening binds the pad float and causes uneven wear.
Engine Lubrication System
| Component | Engine Oil Filter |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | 1S4-E3440-00 |
| Dimensions | Paper cartridge type |
| Torque Spec | Filter cover bolts: 10 Nm (7.2 lbf·ft) |
| Fluid Spec | 10W-40 Synthetic (1.5L capacity) |
| Cross-Compatibility | Yamaha YZF-R15, MT-125 |
Field note: This filter's cross-compatibility with the YZF-R15 and MT-125 sport bikes means it's a widely stocked part, but the 10 Nm cover torque and 1.5L fill capacity are specific to the XMAX's oil galley design — always confirm the correct fill capacity rather than assuming it matches the sport bike applications, which may differ slightly in total system volume.
Engine Internals: Cylinder Head & Crankshaft
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1S7-11181-00 | 1 | Head Comp., Cylinder | Resurface flatness tolerance 0.05mm max |
| 1S7-12111-00 | 1 | Valve, Exhaust | Check margin thickness > 0.5mm before reuse |
| 1S7-12101-00 | 1 | Valve, Inlet | Do not swap positions with exhaust valve |
| 1S7-11351-00 | 1 | Gasket, Cylinder Head | Single-use metal composite; never reuse |
| 1S7-11421-00 | 1 | Camshaft Comp. | Chain-driven; inspect lobe wear before reinstall |
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1S7-11400-00 | 1 | Crankshaft Comp. | Heavier 300cc-class crank; check runout < 0.03mm |
| 1S7-11650-00 | 1 | Connecting Rod | Big-end side clearance spec: 0.1-0.4mm |
| 1S7-11631-00 | 1 | Piston (Std.) | Domed piston, 3-ring set |
| 1S7-11633-00 | 1 | Piston Pin | Lightly oil before install; hand-pressure fit only |
| 1S7-11635-00 | 2 | Piston Pin Clip (Circlip) | Directional installation — see expert note below |
Field note: On this 300cc-class single sharing components with Yamaha's sport bike lineup, piston
inertial loading on the pin clips is higher than on smaller scooter engines. The gap must face 90° to
piston travel, never fore-or-aft — a backward clip compresses under load until it ejects into the
crankcase, and the freed pin gouges the cylinder wall on the next stroke, destroying the bore. Use only
new clips and confirm full seating by feel.

Field note: The XMAX's fairing panels have more surface area exposed to UV than smaller Yamaha bodywork,
and the mounting tabs behind that painted surface become brittle around the same three-year mark. Never
use an impact driver on body screws, and apply silicone grease to rubber grommets before removal so
large panels flex free without snapping a tab.
