Engine Fluids, Gear Oil & Filter Specifications
| Engine Oil Viscosity & JASO/API Standard | SAE 10W-40 | API SG/SL/SM | JASO MB |
|---|---|
| Engine Oil Drain & Refill Capacity | 0.9 L (Without Filter/Strainer) / 1.0 L (With Strainer Cleaning) |
| Final Drive / Gearbox Oil Viscosity & Capacity | SAE 85W-140 or SAE 10W-40 | 110 ml (Drain) / 130 ml (Total) |
| OEM Oil Filter Part Number | Strainer Screen OEM # 156-13441-00 |
| OEM Air Filter Element Part Number | OEM # 54P-E4451-00 |
| Spark Plug Model & Electrode Gap | NGK CR7E (0.7 – 0.8 mm gap) |
Field note: The Zuma 125 single-cylinder engine relies on a reusable stainless steel oil strainer screen (OEM # 156-13441-00) rather than a disposable paper filter. Always clean the screen in solvent and replace its rubber O-ring during every oil change. Always consult the complete Yamaha Vino 125 maintenance guide for shared platform component comparisons, or check the Yamaha Zuma 50F spec guide for 50cc variants. For forensic wrist pin assembly notes, consult our piston pin circlip failure analysis post.
CVT Transmission System
| Component | CVT Drive Belt |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | 5S9-E7641-00 |
| Dimensions | 780 x 21.5 mm |
| Torque Spec | Primary sheave nut: 45 Nm (33 lbf·ft) |
| Cross-Compatibility | Yamaha BWS 125 |
Field note: This belt and torque spec are identical to the Yamaha Vino 125 covered elsewhere in this catalog, confirming the shared platform — always torque to 45 Nm on a clean crank taper, and re-check after the first few hundred miles of use following any belt service.
Braking System
| Component | Front Brake Pads |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | 5S9-W0045-00 |
| Dimensions | Single pin mounting |
| Torque Spec | Caliper bolts: 23 Nm (17 lbf·ft) |
| Fluid Spec | DOT 4 |
| Cross-Compatibility | Yamaha BWS 125 |
Field note: This is a single-pin mounting caliper, a simpler design than the dual-piston calipers found on larger models — over-torquing past 23 Nm on this single fastener can crack the caliper's mounting ear since there's no second bolt to share the clamping load. Always inspect the pin bushing for wear during pad changes; a worn bushing on a single-pin design causes noticeably more caliper knock-back than on dual-pin systems.
Charging & Electrical System
| Component | Stator / Generator |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | 5S9-H1410-00 |
| Dimensions | Standard OEM fitment |
| Torque Spec | Rotor nut: 70 Nm (51 lbf·ft) |
| Fluid/Electrical Notes | Engine oil (splash lubricated) |
| Cross-Compatibility | Yamaha BWS 125 |
Field note: At 70 Nm, this rotor nut is torqued significantly higher than the belt's 45 Nm sheave nut on the same machine, and it is easy for a mechanic doing both jobs back-to-back to accidentally apply the belt's lower torque value to the rotor out of habit. Always double-check which fastener you're torquing before applying force, since an under-torqued rotor nut on an oil-splash-lubricated stator can allow metal debris to circulate through the entire lubrication system if the rotor comes loose.
Engine Internals: Cylinder Head & Crankshaft
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5S9-11181-00 | 1 | Head Comp., Cylinder | Shared architecture with Vino 125; resurface flatness < 0.05mm |
| 5S9-12111-00 | 1 | Valve, Exhaust | Check margin thickness > 0.5mm before reuse |
| 5S9-12101-00 | 1 | Valve, Inlet | Do not swap positions with exhaust valve |
| 5S9-11351-00 | 1 | Gasket, Cylinder Head | Single-use metal composite; never reuse |
| 5S9-11421-00 | 1 | Camshaft Comp. | Chain-driven; inspect lobe wear before reinstall |
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5S9-11400-00 | 1 | Crankshaft Comp. | Also carries the stator/generator (see electrical section above); check runout < 0.03mm |
| 5S9-11650-00 | 1 | Connecting Rod | Big-end side clearance spec: 0.1-0.4mm |
| 5S9-11631-00 | 1 | Piston (Std.) | Domed piston, 3-ring set |
| 5S9-11633-00 | 1 | Piston Pin | Lightly oil before install; hand-pressure fit only |
| 5S9-11635-00 | 2 | Piston Pin Clip (Circlip) | Directional installation — see expert note below |
Field note: Because the stator sits in the same oil-splash crankcase environment as the crankshaft, any
debris from an incorrectly installed piston pin clip circulates directly through the charging system
windings. The clip's opening gap must face 90° to piston travel, never fore-or-aft — a backward
clip compresses under load until it ejects into the crankcase, and the freed pin gouges the cylinder wall
on the next stroke. Use only new clips and confirm full seating by feel.

Field note: The Zuma's exposed-frame design means its plastic panels are directly sun-exposed on all
sides rather than shielded by surrounding bodywork, accelerating the typical UV brittleness timeline at
the mounting tabs. Never use an impact driver on body screws, and apply silicone grease to rubber
grommets before removal to minimize flex stress on already-exposed tabs.
