Engine Fluids, Gear Oil & Filter Specifications
| Engine Oil Viscosity & JASO/API Standard | SAE 10W-40 | API SG/SL | JASO MB |
|---|---|
| Engine Oil Drain & Refill Capacity | 0.9 L (Without Filter/Strainer) / 1.0 L (Total Engine Capacity) |
| Final Drive / Gearbox Oil Viscosity & Capacity | SAE 10W-40 or SAE 80W-90 | 150 ml (Drain) / 160 ml (Total) |
| OEM Oil Filter Part Number | Strainer Screen OEM # 2DP-E3411-00 |
| OEM Air Filter Element Part Number | OEM # 2DP-E4451-00 |
| Spark Plug Model & Electrode Gap | NGK CPR8EA-9 (0.8 – 0.9 mm gap) |
Field note: The NMAX 155 Blue Core engine features an oil strainer screen (OEM # 2DP-E3411-00) and requires 0.9 L of 10W-40 JASO MB oil. Check final drive gear oil (150 ml refill volume) during every main service. For shared 155cc platform data, view our Yamaha SMAX 155 master guide. Air Intake System
| Component | Air Cleaner Element |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | 2DP-E4451-00 |
| Dimensions | OEM exact fit |
| Torque Spec | Airbox screws: 1.5 Nm |
| Cross-Compatibility | Yamaha NVX 155 |
Field note: This element is an OEM exact fit with no tolerance for a "close enough" generic substitute — a slightly undersized aftermarket filter allows unfiltered air bypass around the edges, which is functionally worse than running with no filter cleaning at all since it goes unnoticed. Keep airbox screws at 1.5 Nm; the plastic mounting ears crack easily under power tools.
CVT Transmission System
| Component | CVT Roller Weights |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | 2DP-E7632-00 |
| Dimensions | 20 x 12 mm, 13g each |
| Torque Spec | Variator nut: 45 Nm (33 lbf·ft) |
| Cross-Compatibility | Yamaha NVX 155 |
Field note: Weigh all six rollers individually before installation — a variance of even half a gram from the 13g spec is enough to produce a noticeable flat spot in acceleration on this displacement class. Torque the variator nut to 45 Nm on a clean, dry taper; skipping the cleaning step is the most common reason for premature nut loosening reported on this platform.
Ignition System
| Component | Spark Plug |
|---|---|
| OEM Part Number | NGK CPR8EA-9 |
| Dimensions | 10mm thread, 19mm reach |
| Torque Spec | 13 Nm (9.4 lbf·ft) |
| Electrode Gap | 0.8 - 0.9 mm |
| Cross-Compatibility | Yamaha NVX 155, Aerox 155 |
Field note: This Blue Core engine runs a wider 0.8-0.9mm gap than most small-bore competitors, and installing a plug pre-gapped to a more common 0.6-0.7mm scooter spec produces a measurably weaker spark event that can trigger intermittent misfire under load. Always verify the gap with a feeler gauge before installation rather than trusting a "pre-gapped" label.
Engine Internals: Cylinder Head & Crankshaft
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| BB8-11181-00 | 1 | Head Comp., Cylinder | Resurface flatness tolerance 0.05mm max |
| BB8-12111-00 | 1 | Valve, Exhaust | Check margin thickness > 0.5mm before reuse |
| BB8-12101-00 | 1 | Valve, Inlet | Do not swap positions with exhaust valve |
| BB8-11351-00 | 1 | Gasket, Cylinder Head | Single-use metal composite; never reuse |
| BB8-11421-00 | 1 | Camshaft Comp. | Chain-driven; inspect lobe wear before reinstall |
| Part No. | Qty | Part Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| BB8-11400-00 | 1 | Crankshaft Comp. | Check runout < 0.03mm on V-blocks |
| BB8-11650-00 | 1 | Connecting Rod | Big-end side clearance spec: 0.1-0.4mm |
| BB8-11631-00 | 1 | Piston (Std.) | Blue Core low-friction coated skirt |
| BB8-11633-00 | 1 | Piston Pin | Lightly oil before install; hand-pressure fit only |
| BB8-11635-00 | 2 | Piston Pin Clip (Circlip) | Directional installation — see expert note below |
Field note: On the Blue Core short block shared with the NVX 155, the piston pin circlips must be
installed with the opening gap oriented 90° to piston travel, never fore-or-aft. A backward clip
compresses under inertial load on every stroke until it walks out of its groove and ejects into the
crankcase, and the freed pin gouges the cylinder wall on the following stroke, destroying the bore. Use
only new clips and confirm full seating by feel before closing the case.

Field note: Yamaha's painted plastic panels become progressively brittle at the mounting tabs after
roughly three years of continuous UV exposure. Never use an impact driver on body screws, and apply
silicone grease (never petroleum-based) to rubber grommets before removal so panels flex free without
cracking.
